| What is a Flare? |
| A reason treatments have been so slow is that there was no standard of what a Lupus flare is, so it is difficult to measure the effectiveness of treatments. The LFA gathered 120 experts to establish a global definition of flare. They defined it as a measurable increase of disease activity in one or more organ systems involving new or worse clinical signs and symptoms and/or lab measurements. It must be considered clinically significant by the assessor and there would be at least consideration of change or increase of treatment. |
