Give @ The Office
Many employers allow you to donate to Lupus Research and Awareness with payroll deductions. Federal employees donate through CFC. #10566 denotes the LFA, #37283 for the ALR. Many state and local governments offer similar campaigns, as does the United Way. Check with your company's human resources department to find out how to designate donations to Lupus. Many companies also match your donations. If your company does matching donations, ask for a matching donation form and include it with your donation to your favorite Lupus charity.
BenlystaŽ
We have been closely watching the progress of BenlystaŽ (belimumab), a potential new treatment for Lupus. This month it was announced that the Food and Drug Administration has granted the drug a priority review designation. This designation is given to medications that, if approved, offer significant treatment advances, or provide treatment when no proper therapy exists. If approved BenlystaŽ will be the first drug approved to treat Lupus in over 51 years.  It will also be the first drug ever developed specifically for Lupus.
