Steroids, just another curse!

A prescription of steroids, there’s prednisone and more—

With so many negative side affects---yes, many galore!

In a shot or a tablet, quick relief, but no cure;

You’ll be left with some damage—yes that is for sure!

It’ll help you get through- an exacerbation or a flare,

But not without side affects— of brittle bones and hair-

And some just plain embarrassing—we wouldn’t want to share.

Weight gain comes…it does not warn---you haven’t got a clue;

Look in the mirror, what do you see?  This person isn’t YOU!

Oh…..and what about the damage—that we can not reverse--

Angry, sad and helpless too…now we just feel worse;

So now convinced of what we knew--this drug’s another curse! 

Somewhere traveling down life’s road---seems to me that I’ve been told---

Humor can help to lighten the load!
