Michael Jackson & Lupus
There seems to be much evidence that
Michael Jackson suffered from Lupus.
There have been many reports of him
suffering from the disease since the
mid 80s. In
2003 he attended a Lupus LA
fundraiser. In
October, 2007 "sources close to the
pop star" told Fox news that he had
Lupus. After
Michael's death, spiritual teacher
and medical doctor Deepak Chopra
told
People Magazine that his longtime
friend Michael Jackson suffered from
Lupus for many years. There are
numerous pictures of him with what
could easily be a
Lupus rash on his face.
Lupus might explain his avoidance of
the sun, his rumored drug use, or
some of
his erratic behavior.
So, the question is, why are none of
the major news outlets covering this
story? Why is nobody
investigating these reports? I
can only guess it is because the
story of a superstar abusing drugs
for recreation is a far more
tantalizing story than a man
suffering decades with chronic pain,
insomnia, depression, anxiety, etc.
and using medications to try to get
through each day like hundreds of
thousands of us do every day.
I for one can very much
relate to balancing a fear for your
safety and life with the desperation
to ease the pain and suffering.
Taking a little more medication than
last time because you just have to
get some relief and rest but being
terrified that this time it would be
too much.
If this is what
happened to Michael Jackson, the
world should know about it!
Not only does he deserve the truth
but it will save lives! And,
even if his Lupus had nothing to do
with his death, the awareness that
could be brought to a disease that
desperately needs it, while filling
in a missing piece of the Michael
Jackson puzzle would be world
changing!

This morning on Good Morning America,
we got exactly what we asked for! Lupus expert Dr. Robert
Lahita was interviewed in detail about Lupus and how it could
possibly explain many of Michael's eccentricities, drug use and even
his death. Thanks to Good Morning America and to all of you
who wrote to them and the other media outlets. Hopefully other
news sources will pick up this story as well! View the
interview here:

***Update:

This morning, on
Good Morning America, Michael Jackson's Dermatologist, Dr. Klein
confirmed diagnosing the star with Lupus and giving him certain
drugs related to painful skin procedures related to Lupus and other
diagnosis. He stated that he is not one of the 5 doctors under
investigation and never gave Jackson "dangerous drugs".
We have seen this interview and
Michael's Lupus now covered on
CNN,
VH1.com,
MTV.com, and many other Internet sites, feeds, and blogs.
We are doubtful that Lupus had
anything to do with his death, but we are just thankful that this
piece of who MJ was is finally getting reported and we hope that
some Lupus awareness can come of unfortunate circumstance.
Thank you Dr. Klein.

The following message from Lupus expert Daniel Wallace was
forwarded to us today:
Dear Colleagues:
I can confirm that Michael Jackson had vitiligo and discoid
(chronic cutaneous lupus) and never had systemic disease that
played any role in his passing.
I am concerned that some commentators are relating that a
background of abuse has anything to do with lupus. There has
never been a peer reviewed published article that specifically
has shown this in lupus.
Thanks

UCLA

I have received many supportive emails and comments in response
to this, however there have been a few not so supportive.
I guess I should have expected strong
reactions to such a controversial figure. It appears that
Michael Jackson did have Discoid Lupus, however it had nothing to do
with his death.
As far as accusations that Cure4Lupus
is using this for attention, We have said nothing that was untrue,
and opinions given were 100% heartfelt, nothing is sensationalized.
But, you bet we had hoped there could be something good come out of
something bad, and that if Lupus contributed to his death, it would
shine a light on the dangers of Lupus and in particular the
medications used to treat it. Lupus desperately needs awareness so
that we can find a cure! It is our mission and I will personally do
everything in my power and use ANY truthful opportunity to raise
awareness for the 1.5 million that suffer every day! My life
literally depends on it. Kendra
