Yvonne's Story My story of lupus started 1991. At the time I felt as if i had the flu all the time. At one time I had gotten so sick I could not even think about eating, when I went to the doctor I weighed in at 89 pounds. There was this time when I got up one morning to use the restroom, and when I put my foot on the floor, pain went all over my body. All I could do was fall back on the bed. What I did that day was kept walking back and forth from the bed to restroom until all the pain was gone (that night). Now I have a great doctor (after many) and she talked with me and pretty much told me that if I did not do what she told me to do she would not see me any more. We are very close and I trust her. My journey is still hard because I am still working and at times I don't want too (40 + hours). Back in 2000 I also went back to school and now have my license in massage therapy to current. Now my goal is to gain a little weight. I know that sounds odd, but I am so boney at the ripe age of 42. my kids look like my sisters and brothers. I'm just happy to be able to do things. We need to continue to find a cure because now I know of a little girl age 16 that has lupus now. |
