Why go to Support Group Meetings

If you are a newly diagnosed Lupus patient you will really benefit from support group meetings because the people there can relate and understand.  They also have a wealth of knowledge that you can draw from!

If you have had Lupus for a long time support groups can be a great place to meet new people, and share your knowledge and experience.

If you aren't feeling well  you may get some tips from others who have been through it.

If you feel great you should go because you can be an reminder that the bad days will pass for those in the thick of it.  Encouragement and optimism are great healers.

If you have questions about Lupus a support group is the perfect place to connect with others who may have answers and may even be able to share their own experiences.

If you think the meeting will be depressing you should give it a try anyway.  You will likely meet people who may even be worse off than you physically but remain upbeat and positive and may be able to help you do the same.

If you think the meetings are boring you should still go because every meeting is different.  There are always new people, new topics and new ideas.  If it never seems to get better perhaps you can speak with your facilitator about some ideas you have that may make it better.
